Both do a good job of making lots of bubbles. The choice depends on how many bubbles you want/need.The larger B-550 Chauvet Bubble King makes about three times as many bubbles as the smaller B-250. The smaller B-250 is lighter easier to handle, store and clean. Although the exterior housing of both machines seems solid enough for their intended use, as other reviewers have pointed out, the trays for holding the bubble solution are surprisingly flimsy. When filled with fluid they are not strong enough to be picked up with one hand. You will need to use two hands to keep from breaking these delicate containers. We solved this by sorting through our old tupperware to find something close enough in size to cut down to fit. We wanted to get a bubble machine for our daughter. My wife found one at Walmart for $12, I looked at it and said "NO WAY" ! I decided to spend some money and I'm glad I did. When it came to the door I opened it, filled it and turned it on in the house. Our dining room has wood floors and within 3 minutes our little girl was skating on a sheet of bubbles. This CRANKS them out! It shot bubbles out on a pattern of about 8' wide and blew them back about 30', maybe more if I kept it running longer? Can't wait for the weather to warm up and take it outside in the yard.
